Levon Clark’s Official Halloween Horror Nights House Ratings

Orlando, Florida – September 18th, 2022 – Hello it’s me, Levon and I’m so excited to finally be able to reveal my thoughts on ten new houses at Halloween Horror Nights this year. Halloween Horror Nights is back this year with some truly amazing houses! I’ve had the pleasure of going a couple of times. Here are my thoughts on this years houses in no particular order, including wait times with express, hopefully this helps as a guide! Enjoy

As These Monsters Escape Their Prison, There’s No Escape for You

Enter a prison whose savage inmates are monstrous creatures. If they break free from their cells, it’s a death sentence for everyone.

HELLBLOCK HORROR

WAIT TIME WITH EXPRESS: 9:37pm – 9:43pm – 6 minutes

THOUGHTS ON HOUSE:

This was very well done. It looks like they spared no expense. Fully staffed lots of jump scares, dark corners with fog and screams. Very immersive house, it feels like you are being chased by aliens/demons through the cell blocks.

Overall Rating: 8/10

They’re Bewitchingly Terrifying.

A coven of beautiful flapper witches will lure you into their 1920s speakeasy, reveal their haggish true form and turn your scream squad into a witch’s brew. They’ll be cackling; you’ll be screaming.

SPIRITS OF THE COVEN

WAIT TIME WITH EXPRESS 9:51pm – 9:59 – 8 minutes

THOUGHTS ON HOUSE:

Yet another immersive house. The scare actors at times interact with you. You can see elements of previous years houses reused. This is a very LONG house, “it’s bigger on the inside” comes to mind. There are long periods between screams and often your mind will wander which made the house a little boring.

Overall Rating: 6/10

His Beginning is Your End.

Silent. Merciless. Relentless. There’s nobody like Michael Myers. And if your scream squad is ready, this year, you can gather together and face the terror of Halloween from the very beginning.

HALLOWEEN

WAIT TIME WITH EXPRESS 10:09 – 10:29 – 29 minutes

THOUGHTS ON HOUSE:

Not the entrance of previous years. You are immediately thrown into an upstairs bedroom that pays homage to the story. As you move throughout the house you are suddenly outside of the famous mental institution experiencing the story and time traveling as you realize you are now part of the story. Next up you are moving from house to house desperately trying to escape Michael’s slow approach. Lots of jump scares, great set design. This house keeps you engaged from start to finish.

Overall Rating: 8/10

You’re Dead in the Water

In a New England fishing village, undead fishermen emerge from the waves to seek their revenge. You and your scream squad may have escaped their hooks in the scare zone. Now they’ll reel you in and drag you under.

Dead Man’s Pier Winters Wake

WAIT TIME WITH EXPRESS 11:58 – 12:13 – 15 minutes

THOUGHTS ON HOUSE: Wow, what an experience walking in you feel as if you’re walking into a pier. Without giving too much away. This house was made with love and attention to detail. Lots of scares. True to its theme it was very cold and wet. An unexpected  surprise and easily one of my favorite houses.

Overall Rating: 9/10

Listen to Your Abuela and Beware the Chupacabras

Visit a Latin American village where the legend of the creature Chupacabras is celebrated with a colorful fiesta. And the streets are lined with the crimson blood of tourists like you and your amigos.

Fiesta De Chupacabras

WAIT TIME WITH EXPRESS 12:26 – 12:32 – 6 minutes

THOUGHTS ON HOUSE: No. This house was messy. I wanted to leave halfway through. The scare actors were very well timed. Nothing more to say.

Overall Rating: 5/10

It’s Music to Your Fears.

You love his music, but can you survive his mind? The Weeknd is about to stalk your squad through this haunted house, a surreal living nightmare from his After Hours videos. His nightmare is now yours.

The Weeknd

WAIT TIME WITH EXPRESS 9:04 – 9:13 – 9 minutes

THOUGHTS ON HOUSE: You really have to watch his music and videos to fully appreciate this house, otherwise you’ll be utterly confused. Strong start, lots of great visuals and jump scares. This had a carnival funhouse vibe, there was no real sense of suspense for me. Having said that, the rooms were well designed. Starts on a high note and tappers off at the end.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10

It’s The Wolf Man vs. Dracula vs. The Mummy.

If you thought one Universal Monster was scary, how about three? Summon your scream squad, ‘cause you’re about to get caught between The Wolf Man, Dracula and The Mummy, together for the first time.

Universal Legends Collide

WAIT TIME WITH EXPRESS 9:51 – 10:01 – 9 minutes

THOUGHTS ON HOUSE: Jump scares.  Jump scares. Jump scares. This was a great house, found myself looking over my shoulder going through this one. The scares were plenty and very well timed. You walk into a room not knowing what will jump out at you, never a slow moment. It has it all, wall drops, air puffs, and screams. Another favorite.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10

Deeper. Darker. Deadlier.

Careful not to leave any of your scream squad behind as you descend the subway tunnels of a deserted New York. Lurking in the dark are hungry mutants looking to feast on the last remnants of humanity.

Descendants of Destruction

WAIT TIME WITH EXPRESS 10:18 – 10:32 – 14 minutes

THOUGHTS ON HOUSE: This is not your normal New York Subway. This is the future in a post apocalyptic sense if Mad Max was our reality and people started eating other people. Different smells in every room, thought that was a nice touch. Epic tier level set design, and again well timed jump scares. Really enjoyed this house.

Overall Rating: 9/10

These Bugs Are Out to Exterminate YOU!

While touring a 1950s home of the future, you’ll be surrounded by the slime of bugs everywhere as hordes of many-legged terrors descend upon you and your scream squad. You’ll be dropping like flies.

Bugs Eaten Alive

WAIT TIME WITH EXPRESS 10:42 – 10:53 9 minutes

THOUGHTS ON HOUSE: Jump scares. Jump scares. Jump scares. This was a great house, found myself looking over my shoulder going through this one. The scares were plenty and very well timed. You walk into a room not knowing what will jump out at you, never a slow moment. It has it all, wall drops, air puffs, and screams. Had this feeling that something was crawling on me the entire time. Do not go in this house if you have a phobia of bugs.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10

Twice the Screams. Twice the Terror.

Get ready for a bloodcurdling new double feature of Blumhouse horror as your scream squad faces a ruthless serial killer in Freaky and an evil kidnapper in the relentlessly terrifying The Black Phone.

Blumhouse: Freaky / The Black Phone

WAIT TIME WITH EXPRESS 11:07 – 11:33 26 minutes

THOUGHTS ON HOUSE: These are two houses in one and I have to say it was worth the wait. Recently I rewatched “Freaky” and “Black Phone” for the first time in preparation for this.  The house starts with Freaky and there is an immediate jump scare so watch out. They stayed very true to the movie, if you’ve seen it you immediately recognize all the artifacts of the house. Every corner had something jumping out at you. Without revealing too much, moving onto Black Phone. This is up there with my top 4 favorite houses, it was dark, suspenseful, you really lose yourself in this house. I can describe it as an “endless suffocating tunnel”. And you are desperately trying to escape the basement.

Overall Rating: 9.5/10
