AUBURNDALE—Learning how to land roles in major motion films and getting a movie distributed through HBO and Cinemax will be among the panel discussions featured at the second annual City Con.

City officials announced today their guests for the comic book convention scheduled for Jan. 22-23, 2016. Michael Jaegers, who has been featured in the “Walking Dead” and the “Hunger Games,” and John Armijo whose film credits include “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “GI Joe Retaliation,” will be among celebrity talent.

Other guests include Marianne Banales, the owner of Rocket Fizz in Lakeland and Tampa, who was featured on “Undercover Boss” and John Marcotte, a TED-X featured speaker and founder of Heroic Girls.

And You Films, which produced the motion picture Flashback, will make an appearance this Thursday at the Auburndale Chamber of Commerce’s Halloween Harvest. The movie was featured at the Cannes Film Festival, where it obtained a worldwide distribution, including airings on HBO and Cinemax. Flashback has screened at numerous venues, including the Daytona Beach Film Festival where it received the “Audience Choice” Award. And You Films has appeared at other Comic Book Conventions including Ancient City Con, Geekonomicon and UmiCon.

In addition to the panel discussions, there will also be vendors, exhibits, performances, live music, gaming and much more. Harrison Center for the Visual and Performing Arts are crafting a spooky performance at the Historic Baynard House.

In the spring, the City of Auburndale held a poster contest in which social media followers picked from among five posters to be the marketing campaign for the event. The Star Wars-themed poster will also be featured on the Citrus Connection buses beginning today.

Commemorative badges and bracelets will be sold as passes. The fees are as follows: $15 for Friday/Saturday and $10 for Saturday only. Student passes are $5 daily. Must have student ID. Children 5 and under are free.

The first convention was held earlier this year and including celebrity guests Phil Moore, of Nick Arcade, and talent from the Ghost Hunters International. More than 700 people were in attendance.
